Assistant Instructor

The beginning of the Instructor process is the Assistant Instructor course. This course denotes an extremely high level of accomplishment and is greatly sought out by PADI Instructors. The AI is also the beginning of academic portrayal of teaching.

1. Present the academic elaboration for any PADI Diver course (except Module One of the Open Water Diver course.
2. Conduct open water surface skill evaluations during Open Water Diver training dives.
3. Teach Peak Performance Buoyancy.
4. Teach the Project AWARE specialty.
5. Conduct the Discover Scuba pool experiences.
6. Teach Medic First Aid.
7. Teach any nondiving specialty.

The Assistant Instructor course is the first half of the Instructor course, so when you're successfully certified, it's just another small step to become a PADI Instructor. Small steps also increase your knowledge.

To qualify for PADI Assistant Instructor training, you'll need to:

• Be certified as a PADI Divemaster.
• Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent).
• Have logged a minimum of 60 open water dives prior to entry into PADI Assistant Instructor training.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be in good physical condition for diving and have a medical exam form signed by a physician, current within the last year on file.

You�ll complete these phases in the PADI Assistant Instructor program.

As a PADI Assistant Instructor you'll be able to:

• Act as certified instructional assistant to PADI Instructors.
• Supervise participants in PADI experience programs for uncertified divers.
• Generally supervise both training and no training related diving activities by planning, organizing and directing dives.
• Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers
• Conduct the PADI Scuba Review program for certified divers.
• Enroll in PADI Instructor level training
